The goal of our balanced portfolio strategy is to determine the appropriate blend of assets to address each client's diverse needs, including:

• current income
• preservation of principal
• potential for capital appreciation

For both taxable and tax-exempt fixed income portfolios, we construct a diversified portfolio of security holdings. The foundation of our fixed income philosophy is a focus not on simple yield, but on total return — current yield plus appreciation. We select individual bonds based on our credit research, economic research and by understanding the structure of the securities.
